# Put a Reservation On Hold

> Pause a reservation's countdown timer while you check table availability.

If you need a moment to physically check whether a table is free — instead of letting the countdown timer run out — put the reservation on hold.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the reservation">
    From **Reservations → Pending**, click into the request.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click On Hold">
    The countdown timer pauses. The reservation shows an **On Hold** badge in the list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm or decline once you know">
    Go back into the reservation and take the action once you've checked availability.

<Warning>
  A hold only lasts 5 minutes. After that, the countdown timer resumes from where it left off — so don't leave a reservation on hold indefinitely if you're not ready to act.
